A Balm Called Forgiveness ©

Forgiveness is the economy of the heart... forgiveness saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred, the waste of spirits. Hannah More I absolutely detest waste in any form. I have spent my life trying to be as responsible as I could possibly be with all that I have been blessed with.  Now as I have matured I truly have sort of obtained an understanding of what’s important and deserves your undivided attention and what doesn't deserve a second thought. As my wisdom has grown I now understand that the list of things not garnering attention is actually quite long. We tend to give things undeserved importance at times. I.e. the fairweather friend, or the hater’s opinion that in all actually wants what you have. When we “grow up” we understand that these people’s opinion of what’s important for your life in the overall scheme of things means absolutely nothing. However, this fact does not keep their offenses from stinging or causing us occasional discomfort. It is during th...

Origin Story ©

Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners Laurence Sterne So I begin this entry with a question. Now I understand that your answer to the question depends solely on your life experience and could also be based on what you have witnessed over the course of your life. Everyone’s experience is different and everyone is entitled to their own opinion regarding the matter related to the question I am about to pose. Let it also be said that having an opinion does not entitle one to be condescending to anyone whose opinion may be slightly or even radically different than yours. Let me also preface this entry by saying that I am in no way an expert on Love and Relationships. Nonetheless, I have had enough success and made enough mistakes to have a little insight on matters of the heart. Now that we got that out the way (Kind of shameful that one’s outlook on a particular topic has to come with a disclaimer these days…but I digress). The...

The Everyday Man’s Perspective on The Evolution of Music (Bordeaux Version - Circa 1973) ©

The creative principle is less about dogma and more about opening ourselves to the evolution of consciousness – Alex Grey *taps mic* Testing, testing… Is this thing on? Ok, cool. Let’s get started. Greetings, Ladies and Gentlemen! The topic of today’s discussion is the Everyday Man’s (That would be me) perspective on the evolution of music. Now… Before I begin, I have to preface this entire dialogue with the following declaration… I love music. I love the omnipresent quality of music. For you see, music has the ability to transcend time and space. It has the ability to transcend social barriers. It has the ability to promote consciousness and soothe the soul. Music has healing power (scientifically proven).  Music has an uncanny way of transporting an individual from their current situation into a place where nothing and no one can disturb their peace. It also has the ability to tremendously improve an individual’s quality of life. ...

Prayer for Love - An Excerpt from Don Miguel Ruiz's book entitled - The Four Agreements

This is an excerpt of an extremely inspiring and motivational piece of masterfully written literature. One of the most beautiful pieces I have ever read. Far too beautiful to keep to myself. My gift to you: We are going to share a beautiful dream together- a dream that you will love to have all of the time. In this dream you are in the middle of a beautiful, warm sunny day. You hear the birds, the wind, and a little river. You walk toward the river. At the edge of the river is an old man in meditation and you see that out of his head comes a beautiful light of different colors. You try not to bother him, but he notices your presence and opens his eyes. He has the kind of eyes that are full of love and a big smile. You ask him how he is able to radiate all of that beautiful light. You ask him if he can teach you to do what he is doing. He replies that many, many years ago he asked the same question of his teacher. The old man begins to tell you his story: “My teacher opene...

Matters of the Heart (This ole’ heart of mine) ©

When you fish for love, bait with your heart, not your brain. Mark Twain Opposites attract.  I have heard that a lot over the years. I have even bought into it a couple of times. I am here to tell you from firsthand experience that just because opposites attract truly does not mean they are supposed to coexist. Then there is the other side of that coin. The person you have almost everything in common with. The people you meet and feel like you have known them forever. You also have to be wary of this type of attraction as well. Now don’t think I am Anti Love or anything like that. I mean after all...you can’t have a blog entitled Labors of Love and not buy the product you’re selling.  No, I am love's biggest cheerleader. In its proper context of course. Proper context meaning that you are being loved as much as you are showing love. Life and Love have taught me time and time again that there is no rhyme or reason to love and that’s the way it should be. On...

Let It Go - By Bishop T. D. Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk.. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [ 1 John 2:19 ] People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go!!! And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.. You've got to know wh...
